Debating Independence
In the years leading up the the Revolutionary War, the 13 colonies were anything but united. The debate raged for days, weeks, months and even years with many states vying for independence and others pleading for reconciliation with the British Crown. These debates culminated in the Continental Congress, where America formed its first representative government which eventually voted in favor of independence and signed the Declaration of Independence.
